Crafting a Website That Sells 24/7: Insights from MicroConf Remote 2024

The Conference

MicroConf Remote is the virtual sibling of MicroConf’s flagship conferences in America and Europe. Throughout the year, the conference offers a variety of opportunities for B2B Bootstrapping founders to come together, build community, and glean insights from one another. We covered MicroConf 2023 here, and are looking forward to covering MicroConf 2024 which took place in April in Atlanta, GA.

Remote conferences are designed for everyone. They are a two-day, one-and-a-half-hour-per-day event that includes a series of 30-minute conversations focused on one of two topics: Early Stage SaaS Sales or Marketing. This spring, sales was the topic and it did not disappoint.

The Notes

Ekatarina (Sam) Howard, a conversion copywriter and messaging strategist with extensive experience working with early-stage startups, delivered a powerful presentation on crafting website copy that converts at MicroConf Remote.

Let’s dive into it…

Crafting a Website That Sells 24/7

  • Understand your audience and address their needs

    • Put yourself in your prospects' shoes to craft messaging that resonates and builds trust.

    • "Empathy is the only consistent quality across all lists of great salespeople."

  • Websites must work harder than salespeople

    • Its job is to work 24/7 to sell for you.

    • Showcase product features and benefits effectively by showing how features work for prospects.

    • Make it relevant and easily understandable to the target audience.

    • Clearly demonstrate how the product solves their problems.

  • Launching is just the beginning: continually monitor, gather feedback, and iterate

    • Because websites lack real-time feedback, test messaging and incorporate feedback for continuous improvement.

    • Be conscious of the impulse to immediately fix problems, and instead build hypotheses and test possible explanations for visitor behaviors.

    • Expand the scope of testing changes from just headlines or CTAs to testing new copy ideas.
